Obituary of Marion M. Mastrantonio

MASTRANTONIO, Marion M. Age 90 of Elmira, NY, passed away Sunday, November 8, 2015 at Elcor Health Services after an extended illness. Born October 17, 1925 in Towanda, PA, she is the daughter of the late Cornelius (1903-1955) and Bertha (Hainsworth) Johnson (1906-1969). She was predeceased by her husband Anthony "Antonio" Mastrantonio (1923-1971); son James "Larry" (1955-1987) and daughter Antoinette Cowulich (1947-1990); brothers Irvin Paul "Punky" (1932-1999), Louis (1927-2002), and Harold Johnson (1924-2012), and sister Susan (1929-2000). She is survived by her son and daughter-in-law Anthony and Susan Mastrantonio; grandchildren Erin and Allison Mastrantonio, Jordon (Amber) and Chris Mastrantonio, Kimberly (Brian) Piorkowski, Michael (Ilona) Cowulich and Michelle (Scott) Cardamone; great grandchildren Kaitlyn and Taylor Piorkowski, Christian and Lauren Cowulich, Scott and Ryan Cardamone; nephew and nieces Ronald Johnson, Carol Zeh, Dorleen Kauffman and Vicki Harrison; among many other nieces, nephews, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. Marion was a devoted wife and mother, avid bowler and bingo player, and a fantastic Italian cook. She retired from Hardinge, Inc. in 1988 after 15 years of service. Marion was grateful to her niece, Dorleen Kauffman, and her granddaughter, Erin Mastrantonio, for the love and care that they provided for her in her final years. Family and friends are invited to her memorial service on Friday, August 19th at 10 am at Walter J. Kent Funeral Home, 858 Lake St. at Washington Ave., Elmira. Committal prayers and interment will follow in St. Peter & Paul’s Cemetery.
