Obituary of James Donald Williams

WILLIAMS, James D. Age 71 of Elmira, NY. He was born July 31, 1944 in Elmira son of the late Ambrose Collins and Rena Williams and passed away peacefully Tuesday, November 24, 2015 at the Bath VA Medical Center. James was predeceased by his first wife Mary Simmons Williams; sisters Nancy Montgomery, Mary Carrington and Lula McInnis. He is survived by his wife Linda Fitch Williams; son Bernard (Marion); stepdaughter Caitlin Fitch; sister Norma Molina; aunts Phyllis Wilson and Gladys Williams along with several grandchildren, in-laws and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends., James was a veteran of the U.S. Army and a loyal member of the Prince Hall Masons. After retiring from Hardinge, Inc. in 2007, Williams dedicated his time to the community and his Masonic Family. Described as a kind and gentle man, he loved his family, traveling and spending time with his friends. Family and friends are invited to visit Walter J. Kent Funeral Home, 858 Lake St. at Washington Ave., Elmira on Monday, November 30th from 6 to 9 pm. His funeral service will be held on Tuesday, December 1st at 11 am in Frederick Douglass Memorial A.M.E. Zion Church, 402 Madison Ave., Elmira. Rev. Michael D. Bell will officiate. Committal prayers and interment, with military honors, will follow in Woodlawn Cemetery.
