Obituary of Howard Ransey

RANSEY, Howard age 90 of Elmira, NY. He was born November 5, 1925 in Corinth, MS, son of the late Philip and Addie (Turner) Ransey and passed away Friday, August 26, 2016 at the Arnot Ogden Medical Center. He is survived by his loving wife of 66 years, Elsie; children Howard, Jr, of Sorrento, FL, Lawrence of Elmira, Theresa of Elmira, Michael of Pompano Beach, FL and Joseph of Ocala, FL; grandchildren Joseph, Tiara, Michael, Ciara, Erica, Shenel, Josh, Alesha and Jeremy; 14 great- grandchildren; brother-in-law Eldred Pannell of Elmira along with several nieces, nephews, cousins and longtime canine companion, Biscuit. Mr. Ransey was a communicant and usher at Ss. Peter & Paul Church. He retired from Corning, Inc. and was formerly employed with Ann Page Foods. He served proudly during WWII in the U.S. Army as a member of the Buffalo Soldiers Infantry. He loved attending many of his children's sporting events; took great pride in his annual garden; was an avid fisherman; was a wonderful neighbor. His greatest joy was his family, especially his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. At Howard's request there will be no calling hours. Family and friends are invited to his Mass of Christian Burial on Tuesday. August 30th at 3 pm in Ss. Peter & Paul Church. Interment will take place in St. Peter & Paul's Cemetery at the convenience of the family.
