Obituary of Francis J Ortell

ORTELL, Francis J., Sr. "Shorty" Age 87 of Elmira, NY. He was born November 19, 1928 in Elmira, son of the late John and Anna (Stempin) Ortell and passed away Tuesday, September 13, 2016 at Arnot Ogden Medical Center. He was predeceased by his sister, Cecilia Nimec and brother, John Ortell and is survived by his wife Rose A. (Gilboy) Ortell, daughter and son-in-law Mary Rose and Gary Shaw of Elmira Heights; son and daughter-in-law Francis Jr. and Michele (Swartz) Ortell of Wellsburg; grandchildren, Allison and Alexander Ortell, Benjamin and Breanna Shaw; sister-in-law, Rose Anna Ortell of Horseheads along with several nieces and nephews. Shorty retired from Artistic Greetings. He was a communicant of Blessed Sacrament Parish attending the former St. Cecilia's Church and currently Ss. Peter & Paul Church; a veteran of the U.S. Army and was one of the organizers of the 8th Ward Reunion. Family and friends are invited to visit Walter J. Kent Funeral Home, 858 Lake Street at Washington Ave., Elmira on Friday, September 16th from 4 to 7 pm. Prayers will be offered there on Saturday, September 17th at 9:30 am followed by his Mass of Christian Burial at 10 am in Ss. Peter & Paul Church. Committal prayers and interment will follow in St. Peter & Paul's Cemetery.
