Obituary of Carmella M Long

LONG, Carmella M. age 101 of Elmira, NY. She was born January 6, 1915 in Elmira, daughter and last surviving child of the late Daniel and Lucy (Santrelli) DiPaulo and passed away Saturday, October 8, 2016 at St. Joseph's Hospital. She was predeceased by her husband Adolph V. (Rudy) in 1970, sons James Long in 1991 and Adolph Jr. in 2015, granddaughter Mary in 2009 and is survived by her children Joseph (Antoinette) Long of Horseheads, Patricia (Richard) Roark of Breesport, Robert (Carolyn) Long of Owasso, OK and David (Laura Lewis)Long of Horseheads; daughter-in-law Janet Long of Winterhaven, FL; grandchildren Richard, John, Jeffrey, Scott, Kathy, Julie, Joseph Jr., Timothy, Belinda, Kirk, Kathy, Patrick, Carolyn, Melissa and Eric; several great grandchildren, great great grandchildren and great great great grandchildren along with several nieces and nephews. Carmella was a communicant of St. Casimir's Church and the Rosary and Sacred Heart Society. She retired from Nichols Discount City. Family and friends are invited to visit Walter J. Kent Funeral Home, 858 Lake St. at Washington Ave., Elmira on Thursday, October 13th from 4 to 7 pm. Prayers will be offered there on Friday, October 14th at 9:30 am followed by her Mass of Christian Burial at 10 am in St. Casimir's Church. Rev. Scott Kubinski, Celebrant. Committal prayers and interment will follow in St. Peter & Paul Cemetery. Special thank you to Kathy McAlinn for her care and devotion to her grandmother. In lieu of flowers, those wishing may remember Carmella through donations to the Patient Activities Fund, Skilled Nursing Unit, St. Joseph's Hospital, 555 St. Joseph's Way, Elmira, NY 14901
