Obituary of Ruth S. Robyck

ROBYCK, Ruth Una Marie (Simpson) "Beloved MiMi" Age 92 of Elmira Heights, NY. She was born January 21, 1925 in Ithaca, NY, daughter of the late Wilford and Lillian (Frechette) Simpson and passed away Sunday February 19, 2017 at Bethany Manor surrounded by her loving family. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased in 1994 by her dear husband, Stephen Robyck, along with her brother and sister in law, Francis and Drusilla Simpson; brother, Wilfred Simpson, and her loving cat Noel. She is survived by her daughter, Carole (Larry) Langstine; grandchildren, Kristina (Jeremy) Avery, Stephen (Kimberly Hughes) Rapp; and her nephew, Donald (Lupe) Simpson. She also leaves behind her beloved cat, Meeko-Mouse and her dog, Chloe. Ruth retired from Elmira Correctional Facility where she worked as a stenographer and secretary. She was longtime communicant of St. Charles Borromeo Roman Catholic Church in Elmira Heights. She was a member of the Ladies of Charity, Metropolitan Opera Society, Jose' Carreras Society of America. Ruth had many hobbies including knitting, embroidery, and collecting of fine china, crystal, antiques and Americana memorabilia. She was an avid reader who also loved listening to opera, classical, and Celtic music; she was a tremendous fan of Celtic Thunder. She valued family, knowledge, culture, and meaningful conversation. She had great insight on life that she shared with everyone she met. Family and friends are invited to visit Walter J. Kent Funeral Home, 858 Lake St. at Washington Ave., Elmira on Friday, February 24th from 6 pm to 8 pm. Prayers will be held there on Saturday, February 25th at 11:30am. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 12 pm at St. Charles Borromeo Roman Catholic Church, 130 Oakwood Ave., Elmira Heights. Father Scott Kubinski will officiate. Committal prayers and interment will immediately follow in Woodlawn Cemetery. Ruth's family wishes to extend special thanks to her caregiver, Mindy Smith as well as the staff at Bethany Manor, Unit 2 for all their support and care offered to Mom. Those wishing may make a donation in Ruth's name to the Chemung County Humane Society & SPCA, 2435 State Route 352, Elmira, NY 14903-7933. Donation envelopes will be provided at the funeral home.
