Obituary of Elsie J. Ransey

RANSEY, Elsie J. Age 89 of Elmira, NY. She was born December 20, 1927 in Elmira, daughter of the late Charles and Elizabeth (Jenkins) Davis, passed away Thursday, March 30, 2017 at the Arnot Ogden Medical Center. Elsie was predeceased by her loving husband of 66 years, Howard Ransey on August 26, 2016. She is survived by her children Howard, Jr, of Sorrento, FL, Lawrence of Elmira, Theresa of Elmira, Michael of Pompano Beach, FL and Joseph of Ocala, FL; grandchildren Joseph, Tiara, Michael, Ciara, Erica, Shenel, Josh, Alesha and Jeremy; 15 great- grandchildren; brother-in-law Eldred Pannell of Elmira along with several nieces, nephews, cousins; special friend, Dr. Paul Hicks and her longtime canine companion, Biscuit. Mrs. Ransey was a communicant of Ss. Peter & Paul Church. She retired from the Elmira City School District at Beecher School as Cafeteria Manager; was a member of the Catholic Daughters of America. She enjoyed cooking and knitting; was a good listener; enjoyed praying the Rosary, as well as making rosaries for the missions in Africa. Her greatest joy was her family, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Family and friends are invited to Ss. Peter & Paul Church, St. Joseph's Way (Market St), Elmira on Wednesday, April 5th from 9 to 10 am. Her Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 10 am. Rev. Richard Farrell, Celebrant. Interment will take place in St. Peter & Paul's Cemetery at the convenience of the family.
