Obituary of William Dixon

DIXON, William S. "Buddy" Age 90 of Elmira, NY. He was born March 1, 1927 in Passaic, NJ, son of the late James and Ida Dixon and passed away Wednesday, January 10, 2018 unexpectedly at the Arnot Ogden Medical Center. He was predeceased by his brothers Sonny and Norman and sisters Cora Moore and Dorothy Dixon. The family relocated to Brooklyn, NY where he attended Automotive High School. He served in the Armed Forces; was a member of the family church in Westwood, NJ. Buddy, called "Mr. Buddy", was a custodian at P.S. 224 in Brooklyn for 25 years. After he retired, he moved to the southern tier. It has been Buddy and Vickie for 50 years. Buddy is survived by daughters Shelia and Janice of Brooklyn; 4 stepkids; 4 nieces, 4 nephews along with a host of grandchildren, great grandchildren, great, great grandchildren and cousins. He loved being a member of Resurrection Tabernacle Church. He loved to fish, helping others and enjoying small farming. Family and friends are invited to visit Resurrection Tabernacle, 964 Lake St., Elmira on Saturday, January 20th from 1 to 2 pm. His funeral service will follow at 2 pm. Rev. Gerald Glover will officiate. Interment will take place in Woodlawn Cemetery at the convenience of the family. In lieu of flowers, those wishing may remember Buddy through donations to the charity of one's choice.
