Obituary of Frank J. Kerbein

Frank Kerbein 2/9/32-1/21/21 Frank passed away on January 21st at the VA Medical Center in Bath, where he had been receiving excellent care through their Hospice program for the last several months. Frank was predeceased by his wife Alice Shaw Kerbein (d. 1986) and is survived by their 3 children and their children; Frank and Jennifer and their son Miles (Amanda) and his great-grandson Theo; Michael and Cinda and their daughters Alice (Isaac) Dow and Maeve; and Patrick and Gina with Damon, Cameron and Olivia. He was also predeceased by his wife Jean Rodabaugh Kerbein (d.2017). He is survived by her 3 sons David (Kathy), Jeff, Gary, who along with their children all held a special place in his heart. Frank was the last surviving Kerbein sibling. He was predeceased by Arthur, Hedwig, Gussie, Jim, John and Al. After serving in the Army during the Korean War, Frank worked for the Bendix corporation, operated an eponymous bar on 14th St in the Heights, and finished his working life as a bus driver for Chemung County Transit. Frank was an officer in the Elmira Heights Volunteer Fire Department and in American Legion Post #154. He was elected as a Justice of the Peace in Elmira Heights and served on the School Boards in both Elmira Heights and Horseheads. As a life-long Democrat, he was thrilled to have lived long enough to vote for Joe Biden and looks forward to voting for him again in 2024. Frank will be interred at Woodlawn National Cemetery on Monday, June 14th at 3 pm. Immediately after there will be a celebration of his life at Oakridge Park in Elmira, Heights.
