She was born December 27, 1921 in Elmira, daughter of the late Stanley and Sybil (Osborne) Comfort, Sr. and passed away Saturday, February 20, 2021. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her husband of 65 years, Paul A. Rhode, Jr in 2008; sister Shirley Comfort, brother Raymond Comfort, brother & sister-in-law Stanley & Mary Comfort, Jr. brother-in-law and sister-in-law Chuck & Helen (Rhode) Ruhmel. She is survived by her children Sharon & Tony Minotti of Mooresville, NC, Sheila & Bill Campbell of Powell, OH, Les & Joyce Rhode of Penn Yan, NY and Larry & Kathy Rhode of Horseheads, NY; grandchildren Randy & Teresa Minotti of Venice, FL, Cheryl & Anthony Oddo of Mooresville, NC, Jennifer & Heath Williams of Powell, OH, Jason & Sasha Campbell of Huntersville, NC, Liz & Mike Sima of Baldwinsville, NY, Mike Rhode of Kent, WA, Larry Rhode, Jr of GA, Kim & Mike Rozell of Watkins Glen, NY and Brian Decker of Las Vegas, NV; nine great grandchildren; three great, great grandchildren; sisters Gloria Ross and Joyce Taylor both of NC; sister-in-law Irene Comfort of FL; dear friend Mercedes Fruitt of Elmira and her loyal canine companion Fluffy. In the 1940's, Delores met and married her high school sweetheart, Paul. Like many women during World War II. She supported the war effort by working at Remington Rand and Bendix Corp. In 1950, with the support of her husband, she fulfilled her dream of attending Pauldine's Beauty School. She went on to establish a beauty shop in her home, being in business for 30 years while also caring for her four children. For well over 60 years, summers were spent on Keuka Lake with family and friends. After retirement, She and Paul wintered in Naples, FL. She will be greatly missed, but love lives on. Family and friends are invited to visit Walter J. Kent Funeral Home, 858 Lake St. at Washington Ave., Elmira on Thursday, February 25th from 10 am to 12 noon. Her funeral service will be held at 12 noon. Committal prayers and interment will follow in Forest Lawn memorial Park.
