Obituary of Edith C. Edwards

EDWARDS, Edith C. Age 78 of Elmira, NY. She was born February 24, 1942 in Ocala, FL, daughter of the late Edward Edwards and Marian (Brown) Edwards Clemens and passed away Friday, February 19, 2021 unexpectedly at home. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her sisters Deloris Edwards of Ithaca, Virginia Denkenberger of Horseheads and Lorraine Couse of Elmira; stepmother Lawease Friends of Pine City. She is survived by her daughter Brigitte Baldwin of Painted Post; son Shane Baldwin of Clearwater, FL; grandson Michael Alan Howe of Elmira; great grandson Alexander Howe of Elmira; brother Harry (Marilyn) Edwards of Elmira; sister Jaqueline Edwards of Elmira; niece Julie Westfall-Schmitt of Horseheads; nephews John Couse of Elmira, Harry Edwards, Jr. of Elmira and Scott Edwards of Maine; step sister Ellen Friends of Pine City. Edith was a Corrections Officer at Bedford Hills, worked at Wendy's and Leprino Foods both in Horseheads and was a veteran of the U.S. Air Force. Edith was a talented artist, able to draw most anything. She drew the inside covers for her Senior High School yearbook of "The King and I" (Thomas A. Edison High School, Elmira Heights). She was also a talented majorette and could ride horses better than most. She loved animals and always had a cat or dog. Edith was a social butterfly, always visiting with family and friends. She loved music, especially Elvis Presley. She loved a great western movie with John Wayne in it and enjoyed being with family. A private memorial service will be held in May at Maple Grove Cemetery.
