Obituary of John S. Gublo

GUBLO, John S. Age 72 of Horseheads, NY. He was born January 12, 1949 in Elmira, son of the late John S. and Anna (Gush) Gublo and passed away Saturday, May 29, 2021 at Robert Packer Hospital, Sayre, PA after a brief illness, surrounded by his loving family. He is survived by his son Jeremy; brothers Roy, Chuck (Patricia) and Archie (Chrystal); nieces and nephews Karen, Eddie, John, Matt, Chucky, Brent, Joshua and Alexandria; longtime companion Karen Churchill and her daughters Aimee and Bridget. John was a communicant of Ss. Peter & Paul Church. He retired from the Elmira Correctional Facility; was a fitness enthusiast, visiting the gym daily and was a boxing instructor at NYSF. John coached many youth sports leagues and will be remembered mostly for his willingness and eagerness to coach and mentor youth in our community. Family and friends are invited to visit Walter J. Kent Funeral Home, 858 Lake St. at Washington Ave., Elmira on Friday, June4th from 4 to 6 pm. Prayers will be offered there on Saturday, June 5th at 10:30 am followed by his Mass of Christian Burial at 11 am in Ss. Peter & Paul Church. Rev. John DeSocio, Celebrant.
