Clyde Stanley Poorman, Sr.

age 80 of Elmira, NY passed away peaceful Friday, June 2, 2023. He was a former Artilleryman with the US Army with honor. After leaving the army he worked various jobs including American LaFrance, after a life changing work accident, he completed his high school education and graduated Corning Community Collage with an associate's degree in Sociology. He worked for the state of NY for several years as a social worker in and around Elmira until he retired. Clyde is survived by his wife of 60+ years Joyce Poorman and his daughter Sheri Wade of Elmira, son Clyde Poorman, Jr. of Elmira, Pat Jordan and Michael Jordan, and many grandchildren and great grandchildren. Family and friends are invited to visit Walter J. Kent Funeral Home, 858 Lake St. at Washington Ave., Elmira on Monday, June 12th from 11 am to 12 noon. His funeral service will be held at 12 noon. Rev. Patricia Hubman will officiate. Committal prayers, with military honors, and interment will follow in Chemung Cemetery.
