George H. "Kelly" Carberry, Jr.

Age 89 of Elmira Heights, NY. He was born March 29, 1935 in Ithaca, NY, son of the late George H. and Mary L. (Koski) Carberry, Sr. and passed away Monday, July 1, 2024 unexpectedly at home. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his son Mark Carberry; grandson Mark Minotti and daughter-in-law Susan Carberry. Kelly is survived by his wife of 67 years, Mary; children Joel Carberry of Big Flats, Mary & David Minotti of Winston-Salem, NC and Daniel & Katie Carberry of Austin, TX; grandchildren Kristin (Brandon) Welch, Isabella Carberry, Jack Carberry and Callan Carberry; great granddaughter Violet Welch; brothers Michael (Diane) Carberry and Edward Carberry both of Port Charlotte, FL along with several nieces and nephews. Kelly was a Corrections Officer retiring from the Elmira Correctional Facility after 35 years. He was a veteran of the U.S. Marine Corp serving during Korea. He was an avid coin collector, book collector and enjoyed historical reading; coached baseball; was beloved by his neighborhood and enjoyed taking care of his home. Services will be held at a later date and will be announced.
