Dora J. (Rudy) McCann

Age 68, was born July 21, 1956 in Canandaigua, NY, the daughter of the late Charles and Dorothy (Hackett) Rudy, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by her loving family on Friday, February 14, 2025. Her brothers, David Rudy and Dewey Charles Rudy along with her brother-in-law, Richard Cook preceded her in death. Dora is survived by her loving husband, Richard L. McCann who were married August 30, 1975 and would have celebrated 50 wonderful years of life and love together this August. She is survived by her beloved children: Dawn Donley, Bridget McCann and Timothy McCann all of Dundee, NY; adored grandchildren: Emilee, Robert, Hailee, Aaron, Trinity, Ryan and Jaimes; great granddaughters: Octavia and Laylla; along with two more on the way! Dora is also survived by her siblings: Helen Cook of Hudson, FL; Louie (Cindy) Stewart of Branchport, NY; Audrey (Gary) Thornton of Cheraw, SC; Linda Elwell of Penn Yan, NY and James (April) Stewart of Middlesex, NY; along with several nieces, nephews and a host of friends. For 36 years Dora ran the front desk at the Seneca Lodge in Watkins Glen, NY. She volunteered at the First Presbyterian Church in Dundee often and especially at Christmas time. She volunteered frequently in her community as well. Dora was a very giving person. On two occasions she purchased tomb stones; one for a family who lost their son and couldn't afford to purchase the marker themselves; and anonymously purchased it for them and also did the same for a brother-in-law that passed away. Dora always helped others before worrying about herself. She was a wonderful wife and mother and absolutely loved her grandkids and great granddaughters. At her request there will be no services. The family wishes to express their sincere thanks and gratitude for the outstanding love and care given to Dora by CareFirst Hospice, the Dundee Ambulance and Fire Department and to the Falck Cancer Center.
