Merill, Jr, age 81 went to be with his Heavenly Father on Thursday, February 27, 2025. Merill was born May 22, 1943 in Elmira, son of the late Merill A. Morgan, Sr and Arloine Mae (Hawley) Morgan. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his father-in-law and mother-in-law Willam Basil & Gladys L. (Wood) Spiak; stepmother Beatrice "Bonnie" (Seeley) Morgan; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law Rosson Wood, Ronnie Perry, Charles Robert & Gladys (Spiak) Hart, William & Lorraine Spiak, Richard Duane & Barbara Spiak and John Arthur Spiak. He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Mary F. (Spiak) Morgan; son Tom (JoLynn) Morgan of Elmira Heights; daughter Melissa (Fred) Morgan-Beaver of Elmira Heights; grandchildren Justin B. Munson of Horseheads, Brendan (Olivia) Morgan of Marion, IL, Lauren (Matt) Morgan-Reilly of North Tonawanda, NY; great grandchildren Mya Jade Munson, Justin B. Munson, Jr. and Emma Rose Munson all of Horseheads; siblings Sandra Perry of Hubbard, OH, Jacqueline E. Wood of Jamestown, TN, Dianna (Lee) Vert of Pine City and Scott (Susan) Morgan of Richland, NY; brother-in-law and sister-in-law David & Roseanna Truesdale of Horseheads along with several nieces and nephews; special friends Howard (Lana) Weiburg and Joan Lyon Ayers. Merill graduated from Southside High School in 1962 where he participated on the football, wrestling and track teams. After high school, he was employed with Elm Chevrolet. From there he moved on to Thatcher Glass (Anchor Glass) from which he retired as a machine repairman after 35 years of service. Merill enjoyed boating, camping, traveling with his grandchildren in the RV to many different locations on the east coast. He also enjoyed camping for the Leon Morgan Family Reunion which was held every year at Ives Run in PA. Merill enjoyed talking on the Ham radio to people across the world. His call sign was WB2HBC. He was a member of the Breesport Baptist Church. Family and friends are invited to visit Walter J. Kent Funeral Home, 858 Lake St. at Washington Ave., Elmira on Tuesday, March 4th from 11 am to 1 pm. His funeral service will be held at 1 pm. Rev. Doug Foreman will officiate. Committal prayers and interment will follow in St. Peter & Paul's Cemetery.
