Obituary of Eddie Dean Thomas

Eddie Dean Thomas Age 76, of Elmira, NY was born October 6, 1948 in Shellman, GA the son of the late Jerry and Mamie (Moore) Thomas; went home to be with his Lord on Monday, April 14, 2025 at the Robert Packer Hospital in Sayre, PA. Dean, as he was affectionately known was preceded in death by his brothers, Jerry Thomas & Willie B. Thomas Sr.; sisters, Marie Howard, Leola Thomas, Emmra Council and Charit Ward; niece, Glenda Thomas. He is survived by his children: sons, Darren Jackson; John (Chanela) Murray; daughter, Nicole Wallace; grandchildren: Jolani, Jaylen, Dahlia, Nicholas, Tanaysa, Jovonta, Nakiyah and Gabriella; great granddaughter, Enelaya; brother, John (Joyce) Thomas; along with 5 other grandchildren, many relatives, several nieces, nephews, cousins and a host of friends. While living in Florida and going to school in Cocoa, Eddie was a renowned basketball player. Dean proudly served his country in the US Army. Family and friends are invited to visit the Walter J. Kent Funeral Home, 858 Lake Street at Washington Ave., Elmira, NY on Tuesday, April 29, 2025 from 12:00 pm to 1:00 pm. His funeral service will follow at 1 pm. Rev. David Ivy will officiate. Interment will follow in Woodlawn Cemetery where Military Honors will be accorded to Dean.
