Obituary of Stephen Andrew LaMent

Stephen Andrew LaMent Age 84, was born January 21, 1941 in Elmira, NY, the son of the late John and Elsie (Richmond) LaMent. Stephen passed away unexpectedly, yet peacefully on Friday, May 2, 2025 at his home. Survivors left to cherish and honor his memory are his daughters, Lina and Gina; along with 5 grandchildren, several nieces, nephews and friends. Stephen worked with his parents who owned and operated LaMent's Grocery until they passed away. He then took over the day-to-day operations of the store until it closed. He was a Veteran of the United States Air Force and proudly served his country from 1962 to 1966. Stephen had a wonderful sense of humor and was fun to be around. In his later years he shared his faith and scriptures with those he loved. Family and friends are invited to attend Graveside Services on Friday, May 23, 2025 at the Woodlawn National Cemetery 1825 Davis Street Elmira at 3:00 pm. Lay Pastor John P. Knapp will officiate. The Chemung County Veterans Honor Guard will accord Mr. LaMent with Military Honors. The Walter J. Kent Funeral Home is assisting the LaMent family.
