Obituary of John Joseph Karski
John Joseph (Jack) Karski
Southport
Age 91, passed away Thursday, May 22, 2025 in the comfort of his home surrounded by his loving family. Born on May 27, 1933 in Elmira; Jack was the son of the late John and Katherine (Mazur) Karski. He was a graduate of the Class of 1952 at Elmira Free Academy. Jack married Anne Michalke Karski in 1956 at St. Cecilia's Church. She predeceased him on January 10, 2025. He was employed at Westinghouse Corp. for more than 40 years and by Ss. Peter & Paul Church/Most Holy Name of Jesus Parish part time for 25 years. Jack volunteered for many years with Habitat for Humanity and Ss. Peter & Paul Church. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army serving during the Korean Conflict; was an avid golfer; traveled on many mission trips in the United States with Anne and is remembered as a loving father, grandfather, brother and friend. He is survived by his children John "Joe" (Kathryn) Karski, Stephen A. (Mary Jo) Karski, Timothy M. (Joan Leonard) Karski, Christopher P. (Celeste) Karski, Michael S. (Brenda) Karski, and Kathleen "Katie" Siuda; 19 grandchildren, 25 great grandchildren; brothers Richard "Dick" (Judy) Karski, Thomas (Marilyn) Karski; sister-in-law, Patricia Karski; sisters-in-law Mary Claire Locke, Margaret "Anor" Coon and Antoinette "Toni" (Joseph) Long along with several nieces, nephews and many family friends, especially his best friends Paul Kingsley and Johnny Bellinger. Jack was predeceased by his son-in-law, Richard Siuda, brother Edward Karski and brothers-in-law, Edward Locke and Larry Coon. Family and friends are invited to visit St. Mary's Church, 224 Franklin St. Elmira, on Tuesday May 27th from 10 to 11 am. His Mass of Christian Burial will begin at 11 am. Committal prayers and interment, with military honors, will follow in St. Peter & Paul's Cemetery. A livestream of his Mass may be viewed at https://www.facebook.com/ElmiraCatholic.
