Obituary of John E. Hoyles Jr.

Age 64, of Elmira, NY, was born May 11, 1961 in Elmira the son of the late John E. and Joyce M. (Boyer) Hoyles Sr. John went home to be with his Lord on Friday, June 13, 2025 peacefully at St. Joseph's Hospital surrounded by his loving family. He was preceded in death by his parents, John and Joyce; father-in-law, William Davis; sister-in-law, Kelly Hoyles; nephew, Adam Hoyles. Survivors left to cherish his memory are his loving wife of 43 years, Paula S. (Davis) Hoyles; beloved daughters, Amanda Hoyles (Nicholas Crane), Stephanie Hoyles, Valerie (Garreth) Crawford and Vanesa Hoyles; grandchildren, Harper and Aiden Crane; siblings, Marie (Bret) Wolcott and James Hoyles; mother-in-law, Charlotte Totoritis; special friends, Lee Collins and Howard Golden; along with several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins and many friends. John graduated from Southside High School class of 1979. He retired from St. Joseph's Hospital after 39 years of dedicated service with the housekeeping department. John was a faithful member of Emmanuel Community Church. He was also a member and "doorman" at the Lions Club in Gillett, PA and a member of the Horseheads Moose Lodge # 1476. John was a diehard fan of the Las Vegas Raiders NFL football team, the Baltimore Orioles MLB baseball team and was a huge NASCAR fan, especially of Rusty Wallace and Kyle "Rowdy" Busch. John loved his family and was a wonderful son, husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle and cherished friend. Family and friends are invited to visit Emmanuel Community Church, 237 E. Miller St., Elmira on Wednesday, June 25, 2025 from 2:00 pm to 4:00 pm for his visitation. John's Memorial Service will begin at 4 pm. Pastor Keith Ryoo will officiate with Pastor Joel Traylor to co-officiate. John will be missed but never forgotten.
