Mildred Urda, 90, formally of South Waverly, Pennsylvania, passed away on July 14 after a long battle with Alzheimer's Disease.
Mildred was born on August 4, 1934 to Stephen and Irene Fedorchak of Jermyn, Pennsylvania. Mildred graduated from Archbald High School and attended Lackawana Junior College for secretarial skills for a year. She worked in a variety of places with the longest being a Loan Officer at the Ingersoll Rand Credit Union in Athens, Pennsylvania.
Mildred married Paul Urda in 1960. Mildred and Paul went on to have two children, Lisa and David.
Mildred was a loving wife and mother and a very people-oriented person. Because of her job at the Ingersoll Rand Credit Union, she knew many people in the Valley. She and Paul went everywhere together, which included polka dancing, square dancing, bowling, and preserving food from their large vegetable garden.
Mildred was predeceased by her husband Paul and her brother George. She is survived by her daughter Lisa Palmer of Washington, Virginia, son David Urda and wife Shari of Honolulu, Hawaii, grandchild Alexander James (AJ) Palmer of Palo Alto, California, and her sister Mary Ann Shust and her husband Nicholas of Jarrettsville, Maryland.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Holy Trinity Orthodox Church in Elmira, New York.
Family and friends are invited to visit the Holy Trinity Orthodox Church, 140 Horseheads Boulevard, Elmira Heights, NY, on Thursday, July 24th from 6 to 7 pm. Panykhyda will begin at 7 pm. Her funeral service will be held on Friday, July 25th at 10 am in the church. Rev. Fr. David Cowan will officiate. Committal prayers and interment will follow in St. Michael's Orthodox Cemetery, in Jermyn, PA. Walter J. Kent Funeral Home is assisting the Urda family.
