Alan W. Held

Age 78, of Pine City, NY. He was born March 12, 1947 in Elmira, NY, son of the late Alfred and Marilyn (Smith) Held and passed away Friday, September 5, 2025 surrounded by his loving family with lots of love. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his brother Bryon Held. Al is survived by the love of his life Cynthia Held; daughter Shannon Held of Norfolk, VA; step children Joseph (Kari) Sullivan of NC and Pamela (Brian Danna) Bement of Horseheads; grandchildren Zavi, Kya and Lynzie Sullivan, Piper Sullivan, Reagan & Camille Bement and Dominic Danna; former son-in-law Gary Bement of Horseheads; siblings Kenneth (Joyce) Held of VT, Jason (Holly) Held of AZ and Evelyn (James) Laskaris of Horseheads; along with several nieces and nephews and his constant companion and faithful dog Finn. Al retired from I.B.E.W. 139 as an electrician; was a veteran of the U.S. Navy and was a long time, active member of the Elmira B.P.O.E. #62 serving in many capacities including Past Exalted Ruler. He loved golfing, fishing and gardening. He was a proud PaPa and a great babysitter to his granddaughters. Family and friends are invited to his Celebration of Life on Sunday, September 14th from 1 to 5 pm at the Elmira Elks Lodge, 300 E. Gray St. Elmira. A brief memorial service will be held at 3 pm. Because of Al's love for Hawaiian attire, please wear something tropical. Interment, with military honors will take place in Woodlawn National Cemetery at the convenience of the family.
