William Leigh Bushey
William L. Bushey, age 73, was born on January 5, 1952 in Plattsburgh, New York, the son of the late William E. Bushey and Madelyn (Strack) Bushey. Bill passed away peacefully on Tuesday, October 14, 2025 at Elcor Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Horseheads, NY. His family moved to Elmira in 1965, when Bill was in junior high school. He graduated from Elmira Free Academy in 1970 and later attended Elmira College. He is survived by his wife, Lindalee (Bilyk) Bushey, of Boise, Idaho and by his sister Karen B. Lukas and brother-in-law, Gregory H. Lukas, of New Hyde Park, New York and their son, Evan C. Lukas, of Tonawanda, New York. He is also survived by his unofficial "brother" Bill Miller, of Horseheads, New York, along with numerous cousins. He is fondly remembered for his quick wit and unique sense of humor, his love of the New York Yankees, movies, and his favorite attire: Hawaiian shirts, shorts, and clogs. He loved animals and was always willing to help people especially with their computer problems. Bill will be laid to rest in St. Peter's Cemetery, Plattsburgh with his parents and grandmother Strack. His graveside service will take place there on Wednesday, November 5, 2025 at 1 pm.
