Pearl Shellenberger Obituary

Pearl Marie Shellenberger

December 9,1938 – October 30, 2025

Pearl M. Shellenberger was born on December 9, 1938 in Elmira, New York to late Edgar B. Scopes and Myrtle "Peg" (Eames) Scopes. Pearl was an avid reader who could spend hours happily lost in the pages of her favorite books. Even so, nothing brought her more joy than the time spent with her family and friends—sharing laughs, telling jokes, and creating memories. Pearl was also steadfast in her faith; she loved the Lord deeply and attended church regularly, finding strength and peace in her walk with Him. Pearl is preceded in death by her sister Shirley A. Scopes and infant daughter Karen E. Cook. She leaves behind to mourn her devoted children Edward J. (Lenora) Cook, Connie (Don) Simmons and Raymond L. (Kathy) Cook. Leaving a legacy of grandchildren, Susan (Lee) Giammichele, Debbie Dentzau, Marsha (Nate) Soper, Donald (Danielle) Cook, Barbie (Greg) Butts, Omari Winiavski, Carrie Skufca, Kyle (Kathy) Wood, Ben (Jessica) Wood, Dakota (Kimmi) Cook and Gary (Celeste) DeDominick. In addition, Pearl has a number of great- grand and great- great- grandchildren that allow for her legacy to live on. It was Pearls request to have no service, and the family will be honoring her wishes. If you would like to honor her life and legacy, you may do so by donating to the Joyce Myers Ministries. https://joycemeyer.org/Donate. Walter J. Kent Funeral Home is assisting the Shellenberger family.
