James Martin "Marty" Reese

Age 82, was born May 22, 1943 in Elmira, NY the son of the late Marvin S. and Rose (Cowger) Reese. Marty passed away peacefully on Thursday, October 30, 2025 at Bampa's House in Corning, NY after an extended illness. His brothers, Mike Reese and Marvin James Reese and sisters, Pat Reese and Sharon Reese preceded him in death. Survivors left to cherish his memory are his loving wife whom he has been with for 50 years, Louise (Clark) Reese; beloved daughter, Mary Anne Lester of Elmira, NY; grandchildren: Marquis, Marissa, Maranda, Mariah, Joseph, Dominic and Noah; great grandchildren: Mylana and Calino; very special cousin, Alice (Sterling) Blank; nephew, Joseph Benjamin (Christine Adams); close friend, Dolores Sidwald; along with a host of friends. Marty was Veteran of the United States Navy and proudly served his country during Viet Nam. He was very much into stamp collecting and gold prospecting. He retired after many years of dedicated service as a cook for several casinos in Las Vegas, NV. Family and friends are invited to visit the Walter J. Kent Funeral Home, 858 Lake St. at Washington Ave., Elmira on Thursday, November 6, 2025 from 12:00 pm to 1:00 pm. Marty's funeral service will follow the visitation at 1 pm. Father John DeSocio will officiate. Interment will follow in St. Peter & Paul's Cemetery Elmira, NY with Father DeSocio conducting the committal prayers. The Chemung County Veteran's Honor Guard will accord Military Honors to Mr. Reese.
