Obituary of Mary Rosann DiPetta
Mary Rosann DiPetta, age 81, of Lowman New York, passed away peacefully at home in the early hours of October 31, 2025, surrounded by love and embraced by her children. Born on June 15, 1944 to Leon and Mary (Cavanaugh) Laux in Elmira, New York, Rosann graduated from Notre Dame High School in 1962. In 1967, she married Michael DiPetta Jr., the love of her life, and together they raised two children. Rosann loved to quilt and sew, sing and dance, and create art. Her career in office administration at Beavers Petroleum and Alternate Fuels was a source of great joy, and she truly considered her employers to be family. She spent many days at the racetrack with her husband and nights at the bonfire with friends and family, but more than anything she loved spending time with her grandchildren. She often remarked that she felt like a rock star when she walked in the door, which was a true reflection of her spirit: Rosann lit up whatever room she entered. She loved to tell stories and to laugh. She had a huge family and dear friends and loved each and every one of them. Rosann's warmth and laughter will live on in all who knew her.
Rosann is survived by her two children Michael (Lou Ann Bunke DiPetta) DiPetta and Ann (Timothy J. Reynolds) DiPetta; her brother and sister-in-law Franc and Linda Laux and sister-in-law EJ Laux; and four grandchildren she adored: Rachael Synder, Allison DiPetta, Jack Reynolds and Liam Reynolds. She is preceded in death by her beloved husband of 51 years, Michael DiPetta Jr., and dear brother, Martin Laux.
The family extends its deepest gratitude to Jenny, Elizabeth, and Amanda for exceptional support and Hospice services through CareFirst NY as well as Erica D, Lou Ann, and Tim who went above and beyond to care for Rosann and provide comfort during this time.
A small, Graveside Service will be held at Woodlawn National Cemetery on Friday, November 21 at 3:00 p.m. and family and friends are invited to join her Celebration of Life at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday, November 22 at Hilltop Restaurant.
