John J. Pelchy, Sr.

Age 87 of Sayre, PA, formerly of Elmira, NY passed away peacefully on Tuesday, November 18, 2025 after a long battle with dementia. He was born April 2, 1938 in Elmira, son of the late Amos and Elizabeth (Seidel) Pelchy. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his brother William Pelchy; sisters Shirley (Donald) McMinds, Anna Mae Pease and Marie (Richard) Hull; longtime companion Marie Detrick. John is survived by his children Terry (Thomas) Scalia of Elmira, John (Siriwimon) Pelchy of Yorktown, VA, Jeffrey (Michelle) Pelchy of Elmira, Tracy (Daren) Allen of Atwater, OH; grandchildren Ryan (Vickie) Scalia, Jordan Scalia, Katherine (Jesse) Evans, Kyle Pelchy, Jessica Allen and Adam (Sara) Allen; great grandchildren Ayden Biles, River and Stori Evans; many nieces and nephews, former wife Geraldine (Kiser) Pelchy. John retired from Corning, Inc. as a pipefitter. He was a veteran of the United State Navy. His family extends its deepest gratitude to the Dementia Unit at Elderwood Nursing Home. Private services will be held at the convenience of the family with burial in St. Peter & Paul's Cemetery.
