Age 70, was born October 1, 1955 in Sayre, PA the son of John Hoxie and Anabelle Hazel (Hrebek) Sawyer, passed way on Tuesday, November 25, 2025 at the Thompson Hospital in Canandaigua, NY. Mark was preceded in death by his mother, Annabelle and most recently his father, John on November 24, 2025 in Wyoming; brothers, Mike and Stanley; aunt, Lola; uncle, Francis. Survivors left to cherish his memory are his wife, Carol (Groves) Sawyer; twin daughters, Peggy and Joyce (Cody); brother, Bill (Luann); sisters, Jackie and Debbie; grandchildren, Aaliyah, Gabbie, Carson and Adella. Mark previously worked for the following companies: Elmira Rug, Kennedy Valve and Trayer Products. Mark was an avid Civil War buff and attended many of the re-enactments in Gettysburg, PA. Mark was also a diehard NASCAR fan and followed Geoff and Bret Bodine. Family and friends are invited to visit Walter J. Kent Funeral Home, 858 Lake St. at Washington Ave., Elmira on Wednesday, December 10, 2025 to celebrate the life of Mark. His Memorial Service will begin at 12 noon. Lay Pastor John P. Knapp will officiate. Graveside Services for Mark where the Chemung County Veterans Honor Guard will accord Military Honors to Mr. Sawyer will follow at 1:00 pm in Woodlawn Cemetery.
