Roberta Jean Bedzyk Obituary

Roberta Jean Bedzyk Obituary

Roberta (White) Bedzyk leapt into her Savior's arms on December 26th , 2025 after spending 36,803 days as a foreigner and sojourner on this planet. She joined the throng of the redeemed and finally took possession of her brand new (tax free) home.

She leaves behind two biological children, Bonnie Rose of Hendersonville, NC; John Paul (Judi) Bedzyk of Elmira: 8 grandchildren, 19 great grandchildren, and a thousand "adopted" kids whom she loved (and disciplined) as her own.

She was a woman who epitomized Godliness and selflessness, and practiced, modeled and lived what she preached without apology. She spent her entire life pointing people to Calvary, providing a bed & breakfast for a myriad of itinerant preachers and impromptu dinner guests. Her joy was mentoring hundreds of young folk at the Pentecostal Tabernacle – Elmira Christian Center/Academy.

Many heartfelt thanks to her wonderful and faithful friends who visited her during her last months on this earth. And huge gratitude to Dr. Keith Parker, and to the beautiful, exceptional, caring staff on St. Joseph's 3-C who kept her pain-free for 358 days (except for the dreaded Wednesday showers). Someone else is now going to have to fill the candy jar.

At the family's convenience, she will be laid to rest next to her husband at the foot of the granite Cross in Woodlawn Cemetery, symbolic of the location where she spent her entire earthly life. She insisted on not having a funeral where people would "gawk at my dead body" but a Memorial Service will be scheduled in the Spring of 2026.

The one remaining question she has for you is: "If you died today, have you made your reservation for heaven?"

Family and friends are invited to visit Emmanuel Community Church, 237 E. Miller St., Elmira on Aprill 11, 2026 to celebrate the life of Sister Roberta Bedzyk at 1:00 pm. Her grandsons Pastor's Matthew and Mitchell Bedzyk and Pastor Keith Ryoo will officiate.
