Thomas N. Magno
Age 99 of Elmira, NY. He was born July 2, 1926 in Elmira, NY, son of the late Nicholas and Catherine (Lagonegro) Magno and passed away Wednesday, January 21, 2026. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his loving wife of 65 years, Rose in 2022 and brother Joseph Magno. Tom is survived by his children and their spouses Angela & Douglas Learn of Odessa, NY, Thomas & Karin of Staunton, VA, Michael & Patricia of New Hartford, NY, Ronald & Kari of Coconut Creek, FL; grandchildren Christopher (Elizabeth) and Barbara (Shane) Learn, Patrick (Lindsey) Magno, John (Jessica) Barnhill, Luke Barnhill, Jessie, Micaela and Maximiliano Magno, Carly Magno; great grandchildren Addison and Olivia Learn, Amelia, Henry Magno and EmmieLynn Barnhill along with several nieces and nephews. Tom was a communicant of the former St. Anthony's Church; an avid hunter and chess player. He retired as a Sergeant from the NYS Department of Correctional Services and was a veteran of the U.S. Navy serving in the Pacific Theatre during World War II. Tom was an initiated member of Pi Kappa Phi National Fraternity. Family and friends are invited to visit Walter J. Kent Funeral Home, 858 Lake St. at Washington Ave., Elmira on Sunday, February 8th from 4 to 7 pm. His Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Monday, February 9th at 10 am in St. Patrick's Church. Interment will take place in Woodlawn National Cemetery at the convenience of the family.
