Patricia Ann Hulse

Age 83, of Sidney, NY and Horseheads, NY

Pat was born April 14, 1942, the daughter to the late Charles R. and Mildred A. (Shofkom) Winchester in Oxford, NY. She passed away peacefully on February 23, 2026 at the Arnot Ogden Hospital in Elmira, NY.

Pat is survived by her daughters and sons-in-law, Denise & Kenneth Boise of Sherburne, NY Shari Paige and Richard Rich of Horseheads, NY, and Glenn Borchert of Princeton, TX; grandchildren, Dean and Kathryn Borchert, Dana (Domenic) Mancini, Jordyn Boise, Anne (Marcus) Rich-Spera, Richard P. and Joseph Rich; sister-in-law Betty Winchester; several nieces, nephews and close cousins and a long list of true neighbors and friends she collected along her way.

Along with her parents, she was predeceased by first husband Dennis Paige, second husband of over 40 years, Howard Hulse Jr., brother Ernest Winchester and beloved daughter Joanne Marie Borchert in 2024.

Pat was born in Oxford, but raised in Sidney, NY in the house her grandfather built on East Main Street. She was the first class to graduate from the "new" high school in 1960. Always a proud alumnus, she had a "Warriors" spirit, persevering through challenges that would have left others beaten. In 1970, she moved her young family to a house on Orchard St, staying in her own "Brooklyn" neighborhood until 2016 when health demands took her to Horseheads, NY to be closer to family. While in Sidney, Pat worked at The Hospital for years in the ER and as an ECG/EKG technician; she also worked at NY Central Mutual in Sherburne and at the Sidney High School. Wherever she went, she made quick friends, was respected for her incredible stamina and work ethic and became the best neighbor you could want. Pat collected strays of all kinds, always an animal menagerie and people who needed a little help, or a little love. There was an open-door policy on Orchard Street and a hot cup of coffee waiting. Friends and neighbors were her family and Sidney was always home.

There will be calling hours in both Elmira and Sidney. Friends are invited to the Walter J. Kent Funeral Home, 858 Lake Street, Elmira, on Friday, March 6th from 4:30 – 6pm.

On Saturday, March 7th, family and friends may gather at C. H. Landers Funeral Home, 21 Main Street, Sidney from 1:00 – 2:00 pm. Pat's Memorial Service will follow there at 2PM. Interment in Prospect Hill Cemetery will take place in the spring.

Her family would like to offer special thanks to her helpful Horseheads neighbors; her dialysis team, including Dr. Atwaibi and Dr. Katerji; and the staff at Arnot Ogden Medical Center, especially Dr. Kaffenbarger, Dr. Cahill and 5D floor staff.
