Age 64 of Freeville, NY. She was born May 31, 1961 in Elmira, NY, daughter of the late Ocie and Virginia (Dickey) Jones and passed away Monday, March 16, 2026 unexpectedly at home. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her husband Zachary Bo Smith. She is survived by her children Shondale Brown, Valnitta Jones and Talik Jones all of Dryden, NY, Zachary Q. and Chelsey Smith of Binghamton, NY; grandchildren Marcyssa Brown, Darius Brown, Tianna Young, Octavion Brown, Aiyana Brown, Marielle Smith and Zachary M. Smith; sisters Michelle Jones and Dena Jones both of Elmira; brothers Jerry Hayes of Rochester, NY, Otis (Aggie) Jones of Albany, NY Charles (Caroline) Jones, Steve (Tessa) Jones and Leon (Alma) Jones all of Elmira and along with a host of nieces and nephews. Barbara worked in the restaurant industry for years until becoming the primary caregiver for her son Talik. Family and friends are invited to visit Walter J. Kent Funeral Home, 858 Lake St. at Washington Ave., Elmira on Friday, March 27, 2026 from 10 am to 12 noon. Her funeral service will begin at 12 noon. Elder Esco Smith will officiate. Committal prayers and interment will follow in Woodlawn Cemetery.
