She was 63 and unfortunately passed 3 days before her 64th birthday.

With heavy hearts, we announce the unexpected passing of Gail Marie Gibbons, a deeply loved woman, a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother whose presence brought warmth, laughter, and love into every life she touched. She was 63 and unfortunately passed 3 days before her 64th birthday. Gail was the beloved wife of Paul, and a proud and loving mother to her three children, Alex, Danielle, and Travis. Her greatest joy in life was her family, especially her grandchildren, who meant everything to her. She was preceded in passing by her cherished grandson, LaTrell (2021), whom she held close in her heart always. She leaves behind her loving grandchildren Gene, Amari, Lavontae, Isaihez, Johnia, Jha'Meek, Jay'Lynn, and Ja'Khi, each of whom carries a piece of her love, spirit, and memory with them. She was a caring, fun, and vibrant woman who truly loved life. Her laughter was contagious, her presence comforting, and her love unconditional. She had a special way of making everyone feel like family, turning ordinary moments into lasting memories.

She especially loved the holidays—bringing everyone together, filling the home with joy, and creating traditions that will be remembered forever. Her famous sweet potato pies were a staple at every gathering, made with love and eagerly anticipated by her family. Gail became an avid fan of drum and bugle corps, Especially Phantom Regiment. At home, she was also a devoted dog mom to her two beloved dogs, Sara and Missy, who will deeply feel her absence and the love she gave so freely. She built a life centered around love, laughter, and togetherness. Though her passing leaves an unimaginable void, the love she gave will continue to live on in her husband, her children, her grandchildren, and all who knew her.

Gail will be deeply missed, forever loved, and never forgotten.

Family and friends are invited to attend Gail's celebration of life at the Walter J Kent Funeral Home, 858 Lake St. at Washington Ave., Elmira on Saturday, May 9, 2026 at 2:00 pm. Her celebration will continue after her service at the Queen City Elks Lodge 726 Benjamin Street Elmira, NY 14901.
