Anna F. "Fran" Monroe

Age 101 of Elmira, NY. She was born April 25, 1925 in Elmira, daughter of the late Michael and Anna (Molloy) Powers and passed away Saturday, May 30, 2026 at St. Joseph's Hospital. She was predeceased by her husband of 60 years, Wayne in 2009; sons-in-law Ronald Anglehart and Frank Szymkiewicz; brothers Michael and Joseph and sister Elizabeth. She is survived by her children and their spouses Kathleen Anglehart of Elmira, Michael and Maryrose Monroe of Pine City, Elizabeth Monroe, Timothy Monroe both of Elmira, Patricia and Kevin McDonnell of Horseheads, Maureen Szymkiewicz of Corning, Mary and Alex Carroll of Penfield, NY, Kelley and John Braster of Horseheads; 12 grandchildren; 13 great grandchildren. Fran was a longtime, active communicant of the Most Holy Name of Jesus Parish at St. Cecilia's, St. John's and Ss. Peter & Paul churches. She was a member of the Nocturnal Adoration Society. Family and friends are invited to her Mass of Christian Burial on Thursday, June4th at10:30 am in St. Patrick's Church, 604 Park Place, Elmira. Rev. Richard Farrell, Celebrant. Committal prayers and interment will follow in St. Peter & Paul's Cemetery. In lieu of flowers those wishing may remember Fran through donations to Catholic Charities, 215 E.
