Obituary of Leonile S. Wilson
WILSON, Leonile Severina
Leonile Severina Wilson,102, of Elmira, NY was called home to be with our Lord on April 18, 2017. She was born August 18, 1914 in St. Thomas, Virgin Islands, the daughter of the late Hernand and Alice (Francis) Holmes. She was predeceased by husband, H. Alonzo Wilson; brother, Lionel A. Todman; sister, Marion L. Todman; sons Lupercio A. Wallace and Earle A. Wallace. She is survived by her sister, Leona A. Ross, Bronx, NY; daughters: Grace A. Fenner of Seattle, WA; Genevieve A. Wilson-Smith of Manhattan, NY; Constance A. Graham of Ithaca, NY; LaVerne M.A. Wilson of Elmira, NY; and grandchildren: Jackrel Wallace of St. Thomas, VI; Jennifer Wallace-Stevens of Charlotte, NC; Earle A. Wallace, Jr. of Oakland, CA; Master Sargent (Retired) Ronald V. Wallace of Stuttgart, Germany; Renee D. Wallace of Shoreline, WA; Parrish Wallace of Oakland, CA; Kyle B. Wallace of Monroe, WA; Caroline T. Smith Edlund, of Manhattan, NY; Sean K. Greene of Bowie, MD; Geoffrey R. Greene of Lancaster, TX; Andrea L. Greene of Bronx, NY; Karyn L. Olomu of Davenport, FL; Rebecca IC Graham of Philadelphia, PA; Alexandra SE Graham of Philadelphia, PA. She is lovingly remembered by numerous nieces, nephews and great-grandchildren. Mrs. Wilson was a long-time member of Faith Temple Community Church. She retired from the Elmira City School District as an Elementary Teacher. It is noteworthy that Mrs. Wilson was one of the first African American Teachers ever to be hired by the school district. Family and friends are invited to celebrate her life spent in service of the Lord at her homegoing on Tuesday, April 25th at 11:00 am in Faith Temple Community Church, corner of Harper and Sullivan Streets, Elmira, NY. Rev. Sam O. Pulliam will officiate. Committal prayers and interment will follow in Woodlawn Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be sent to Faith Temple Community Church and Freedom Village, Inc. Walter J. Kent Funeral Home is assisting the family.
