Obituary of Marie L. Harden

HARDEN, Marie L. Age 96 of Elmira, NY. Was called home to be with our Lord on Tuesday, April 18, 2017 She was born November 15, 1920 in Waynesboro, GA, daughter of the late John Jennie Lovett. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her husband Calaway Harden; sisters Roselee Bennett, Lena Mae Dukes, Ola Mae Turner, and Pauline Greene; brothers, John Perkins, Frank Burroughs, Roosevelt Lovett, Eugene Lovett, and Johnnie Lee Lovett; along with her grandson, Christopher Harden. She is survived by her sisters, Beatrice Miles, Mary (Ulysses) Roberson, all of Elmira, NY; daughters, Gertrude Harden of Elmira, Renna Harden and Martha Black of Atlanta, GA; grandchildren, Sheila (William) Blow and Michael Harden of Elmira, NY, Courtney (Christina) Harden of Philadelphia, PA, and Barbara (Steve) Mason of Atlanta, GA; great grands, Javon Harden, Brittany Stephens, Michael Harden Jr., Anthony Mason, and Brianna Mason; great great grands Carmelo Harden and Cardea Harden, with a host of relatives and friends She moved to Elmira in 1960 with her family. Marie retired from the A&P Plant in 1980; she was a long time member of the former New Hope Missionary Baptist Church. Family and friends are invited to visit St. Paul Missionary Baptist Church, 402 Sullivan Street in Elmira on Thursday, April, 27, 2017 from 11 am to 12 pm. Marie's homegoing celebration will be held there at 12 pm. Pastor Johnny Vaughn officiating. Interment and committal prayers will follow in Woodlawn Cemetery, Elmira. Walter J. Kent Funeral Home is assisting the family.
