Obituary of Joyce C. Brown

BROWN, Joyce Chanaye age 60 of Springfield, MA, formerly of Elmira, NY. She was born October 21, 1957 in Bath, NY, the daughter of the late Rufus Brown, Sr. and Pauline J. (Davis) Brown who survives, and was welcomed into the arms of the Lord on Wednesday, January 10, 2018. In addition to being predeceased by her father, she is also predeceased by her son-in-law Steven Chavis and sister-in-law Geraldine Clark. Joyce is survived by her mother Pauline Brown; she leaves behind her loving children Kashawn Carter of Elmira, Shakira and Kwame Kyles, Sr. and LaQuanda Brown all of Springfield, MA; 15 grandchildren; 9 great grandchildren; stepson Shaheed Clayborn & family that she also loved. She is survived by her siblings Enoch Clark of Elmira, Annie Pearl Johnson of Greenville, SC, Rufus Brown, Jr. of Davenport, FL, Judy and Calvin Flint of Phenix, AL, Marnita and Paula Brown both of Elmira, Diane Brown of Savannah, GA along with a host of nieces, nephews and cousins. She also had very close friendships with Terry Clayborn, Pat Davis, Traci Brown, Maebelle Golden, Julius Odom, Paul Jones and a host of others. Family and friends are invited to visit Shabach Tabernacle, 1133 Lake St., Elmira on Friday, January 19th from 10 am to 12 noon. Her funeral service will begin at 12 noon. Committal prayers and interment will follow in Woodlawn Cemetery
