Obituary of Donald A. Chalk

CHALK, Donald A. "Chalky" age 61 of Elmira, NY. He was born July 12, 1956 in Elmira, son of the late Daniel A. and Beverly E. (Thomas) Chalk and passed away Thursday, February 1, 2018, at home after an extended illness. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his beloved grandmother, Elsie A. Auble. Don is survived by his son and daughter-in-law Jason and April Chalk of Horseheads; daughter Caitlin Chalk of Elmira; 4 grandchildren; siblings David A. and Susie Chalk of WI, Michelle R. Lepere, Kathleen E. Johnson ( John Cleary), Daniel A Chalk, Jr. (his twin), Damon A. and Rodie Chalk and Nancy Chalk-Griffin all of Elmira; extended family Anthony (Tony) Roe of Elmira; special aunt Nancy Bennett of Corning, along with several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends too numerous to mention. Don was a Corrections Officer, retiring from the Elmira Correctional Facility. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army. He regularly and anonymously donated to needy families in the area and many animal rescue organizations. Family and friends are invited to visit Walter J. Kent Funeral Home, 858 Lake St. at Washington Ave., Elmira on Wednesday, February 7th from 4 to 7 pm. His memorial service will be held there on Thursday, February 8th at 1 pm. Committal prayers, with military honors, and interment will follow in Woodlawn National Cemetery.
