Our Funeral Home

Walter J. Kent Funeral Home opened to serve our Elmira community in March 2003. During a period of corporate owned funeral service in Chemung County, Walter Kent struck out on his own to continue and build upon his 22 years of service to Elmira families.

Our modern facility was purposefully built to serve as a funeral home; the spacious foyer, arrangement center, East Room and Mural Parlor are located on a single level and fully handicap accessible. Facing out onto the intersection of Washington Avenue and Lake Street, the funeral home is easy to find. Our expansive parking lot allows for large gatherings and puts ample distance between the streets and the building. Our large drive under front portico allows for protection from harsh or inclement weather.

Inside we have decorated to create an open, warm, comfortable setting for our families. Paintings and sculpture work from local artists and galleries hang on the walls; while glass from Corning, NY and other locally sourced pieces adorn the halls and rooms throughout. Our spacious entryway and viewing rooms accommodate for larger gatherings. Our staff can tailor room designs to your desires for ample seating and display space for heirlooms and photos.

Our professional staff will be on hand to provide personal service in the comfortable setting of our thoughtfully maintained facility.
