Obituary of Amanda K. Golden

Amanda K. Golden Age 44, left this world to meet her Lord and Savior in Heaven on Friday, August 25, 2023. Born to Timothy E. Golden and Laurie K. Dunn on March 14, 1979. Surviving are her children Shaelyn J. and Tylor B. Thomas; brother, Aaron T. Golden; nieces, Mariah, Tayonna, Maleigha and "furniece" Sadie Grace; also surviving, grandmother, Beatrice Golden; step-father and mother, John and Sally Ribble; step-sister, Tabitha Ribble. Amanda had many aunts, uncles, cousins, neighbors and wonderful friends. Amanda was a 1997 graduate of Horseheads High School and was very much involved in all music programs. Her voice was that of an angel. A few days prior to her passing, Chuck Griffiths, her vocal teacher passed and she was very upset, going home a few days after. Amanda was in Marching Band, Pep Band Drum Major, School Musicals, winning many talent shows, Twin Tier Idol winner to judge. Wind ensemble, first chair, first flute; won a trip to Florida placing 3rd. Her voice traveled far and wide. Amanda moved onto Mansfield University music programs and became an Alpha Sigma Tau Sorority Sister and House Mother. In 2001 she received her degree in psychology and criminal justice. As her children Shae and Ty grew, they began different sports for which she was proud and kept moving for them. They were the light in her life. Predeceasing Amanda are grandparents, William R. and Lucille J. Dunn; Theodore L. Golden; aunt Cheryl A. Dunn-Bellinger; uncle, James J. Bellinger; most recently losing her dad's twin brother, uncle, Thomas E. Golden, whom she talked to often. She became, in a sense, her dad's caretaker during his illness. No greater love did anyone have but for her children. Family and friends are invited to attend a Celebration of Life for Amanda on Saturday, September 30, 2023 at the First Presbyterian Church, 1054 West Clinton Street, Elmira, NY. A time of sharing, prayer service and refreshments. This will give those an opportunity to visit at their leisure from 1:00 pm to 6:00 pm. Walter J. Kent Funeral Home is assisting the Golden family.
