Obituary of Albert R. Thompson

THOMPSON, Albert R. Age 92 of Elmira, NY. He was born September 13, 1924 in Florida, NY, son of the late Frank and Esther (Merrill) Thompson and passed away peacefully on Thursday, January 12, 2017 at St. Joseph's Skilled Nursing Facility. He was predeceased by his brother Frank Thompson, step brother Edward Johnston, and grandson, Richard Thompson. Al is survived by his wife of 72 years, Louise (Carpenter) Thompson, son; Richard (Donna) Thompson, daughter, Deborah (Butch Albee) Hoffman, grandchildren; Kelly Jo, Craig, and Greg; 6 great grandchildren along with several nieces and nephews. Al graduated from EFA and went to work at Remington Rand (where he met Louise). He also worked at Railway Express, Edgecombs Furniture and retired from the Chemung County Highway Dept. Besides being a devoted husband & father, Al loved cars & airplanes as well as taking care of his home. In accordance with Al's wishes, no services will be held. The family wishes to thank the staff at Woodbrook, St. Joseph's Transitional Care and St. Joseph's Skilled Nursing Facility for their care and support.
