Obituary of Anne Obuhanych

OBUHANYCH, Anne (Parkolap) Age 96, Canandaigua, NY, formerly of Elmira. She was born January 26, 1921, in Endicott, NY, daughter of the late Nicholas and Katherine (Dorosh) Parkolap and passed away peacefully Monday, February 27, 2017, in Canandaigua. She was predeceased by her loving husband, John Obuhanych, in 1994; as well as her brothers Walter and John Parkolap, sister Mary Marcocci; brothers-in-law, Harry, Frank, and William Obuhanych, along with John Warski; sisters-in-law, Helen Obuhanych and Anna (Obuhanych) Myhalyk; and her niece, Juliana Myhalyk. She is survived by her son Mark and his wife Angela Obuhanych of Canandaigua, NY; grandchildren Olivia and Zachary Obuhanych; sisters Helen Baburchak of Endwell, NY and Olga Warski of Endicott, NY; nieces and nephews, Cathy McBride of Endwell, NY, Dr. Patricia Warski and husband Dr. Jeffrey Todd of Norwich, NY, Paula and Ron Bill of Endwell, NY, David and Kris Marcocci of Owego, NY, Paula and Herbert David of Australia, Daria and Stephen Lebduska of Camillus, NY, Anna and Jerome Conroy of Syracuse, NY, David Myhalyk of Naples, FL, Kathleen Martin of Naples, FL, Robert and Vicki Obuhanych of Portland, OR, Thomas and Ko Obuhanych of Cody, WY, Barbara and Dr. Peter Cullen of NC, and Mary and Robert Harris of Horseheads, NY; along with many dear great-nieces and great-nephews. She worked as a Teller, employed by Marine Midland Bank in Elmira, and also helped her husband by maintaining records and managing several rental properties. After the birth of her son, she transitioned into the life of a homemaker and loving mother. Anne was a lifelong communicant of Holy Trinity Orthodox Christian Church in Elmira Heights. She was a member of the church choir for many years and her strong faith in God was evident throughout her life; she recited the Lord's Prayer in Russian during her last moments with her family. Her passions included gardening, baking (pies, breads, cookies), and music. She especially loved spending time with her family celebrating birthdays, holidays, and simple gatherings. Special thanks to the staff at Horizons Senior Living Facility in Canandaigua, who took excellent care of Anne in her final years. Anne had many friends there, among both the residents and staff. Family and friends are invited to visit Holy Trinity Orthodox Christian Church, 140 Horseheads Blvd., Elmira Heights, on Tuesday, March, 7th from 9 am to 10 am. Anne's funeral service will take place there at 10 am. Father James Worthington will officiate. Interment will follow in Holy Trinity Orthodox Cemetery, Elmira Heights.
