Obituary of Marcia Ruth Green
GREEN, Marcia Ruth (Bowman)
Age 92 of Erin, NY. She was born November 18, 1925 in Elmira, NY, daughter of the late Hiram Osee and Mildred Esther (Cornell) Bowman and passed away Saturday, September 29, 2018 surrounded by her family at Chemung County Nursing Facility.
In addition to her parents, Marcia was predeceased by her four brothers, Chancey, Arthur, Robert, Edwin Bowman; two sisters, Betty Stewart, Doris Beckett; and son-in-law, Bradley Roth. She is survived by her beloved husband of 71 years, Harry James Green; sister Mary Ann (Robert) Weiss; her children, Kathleen (Thomas) Seymour, Timothy (Mary Ann) Green, Terry (Kimberly) Green, Colleen (Lauren) Simkin, and Mary Jo Roth; 10 grandchildren, 26 great-grandchildren, 2 great-great grandchildren with another on the way, dear friend Lawrence Roman, along with a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and close friends.
Marcia is remembered for her determined and kind spirit. She and her husband donated land on which the Baldwin Fire Department was built; Marcia was involved with that Fire Department for over 50 years, even becoming the President of the Ladies Auxiliary. Marcia put her tremendous talent for cooking to work with the North Chemung Food Pantry and Chemung County Meal on Wheels. She was known for cooking and delivering meals on her own time to friends and those in need. Along with her family she was member of the North Chemung Methodist Church as well as a member of the Eastern Star. As a mother, grandmother, great and great-great grandmother she left a legacy of love and devotion to her family.
Marcia's family will celebrate her life privately. In lieu of flowers, those wishing can make donations in Marcia's name to either St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, PO Box 1000, Dept 142, Memphis, TN 38101 or Make a Wish Foundation, 1702 East Highland Ave, Ste 400, Phoenix, AZ 85016.
