Junette Weekes

Obituary of Junette W. Weekes

WEEKES, Junette W. Age 63 of Elmira, NY, passed away Saturday, April 25, 2020 at the Arnot Ogden Medical Center. She was predeceased by her mother Nellie Weekes Junkere; father Hershel Peppers, Sr.; sister Barbara Peppers and brother Quadir Saafir. Junette is survived by her husband John Myers of Elmira; children Joseph Weekes of Elmira and Latisha Weekes of Bronx, NY; grandchildren Joseph Weekes-Cordoni, Madyson Weekes-Cordoni, Maleah Williams, Jyair Williams and Jasante Williams and their mother Melissa Campbell; siblings Azalea Girard, Delia Peppers-Adams, Shuri Pridgett and Hershel Peppers; mother-in-law Ruby Adams of Elmira, along with a host of nieces and nephews and family and loved ones in Trinidad. Junette was a loving mother, grandmother, sister, wife and friend, with a smile and personality that lit up a room. She was employed with CitiBank in New Rochelle and NYSEG in Horseheads. Private services will be held at the convenience of the family with Interment in Woodlawn Cemetery. Our mother was a light in our lives. She was always there to give advice or point us in the right direction. Not a day went by where she didn't show us love. She was our mother, our friend, our counsel in times of need and despair. She was also our bodyguard sometimes when she thought we were in trouble. Our mother was a dedicated and loving grandmother as well. She would do anything for her babies and her face would always light up when she saw them. She loved them very much and she knew how much they loved her. Being a wife, grandmother and mother were the most important things in her life. When you become a parent, it's your most important job. Nothing matters more in life than being a parent, how good of a parent you are is what defines success or failure in life. Our mother loved us unconditionally and did anything for us. She was the best mother a child could ask for so she was a champion and a success and we were lucky to have the time we had with her. She is in a better place, now able to breathe and laugh and be around loved ones that have passed (and Elvis). We will see her again in Heaven. Until that day we will cherish the wonderful memories that we have and try to live our lives in honor of her. Thank you, Mom. We love you.
