Obituary of Charlotte E. Smith

SMITH, Charlotte E. Age 94 of Elmira, NY. She was born December 14, 1926 in Newark Valley, NY, daughter of the late Jack and Anna (Lane) Rhodes and went to be with her Lord Wednesday, December 16, 2020 unexpectedly at home. In addition to her parents she was predeceased by her husband Clarence Smith in 1999. Charlotte is survived by her children Bill & Nancy Schierloh of Elmira Heights, Nancy & Bob Comstock of Horseheads; grandchildren Rob & Tammy Comstock of Horseheads, Colleen & Jim Pollen of Horseheads, Scott & Lindsay Schierloh of Moorseville, NC and Jeff & Toni Schierloh of Huntersville, NC; great grandchildren Kyle and Tesla Pollen of Warren, PA, Darren and Mariah Pollen of Manchester, NY, Jaxon and Juliahna Schierloh, Mackayla, Logan and Kyle Schierloh, Tia and Brandon Comstock and Sadie Lewis along with several nieces and nephews. Charlotte retired from Hardinge Bros. in 1996. She attended Curves for many years, which she loved to do; was outgoing and loved going to church to socialize. Family and friends are invited to visit Walter J. Kent Funeral Home, 858 Lake St. at Washington Ave., Elmira on Tuesday, December 22nd from 2 to4 pm. Her funeral service will be held at the convenience of the family. Rev. Elwyn Patrick will officiate. Interment will be in Woodlawn Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, those wishing may remember Charlotte through donations to the Vietnam Veteran of America Chapter 803 and Museum, 1200 Davis St., Elmira, NY 14901 or the Arctic League, 248 W.
