ZAPARZYNSKI, Thaddeus "Ted". Age 89 of Horseheads, Ted was born November 02, 1931 in Elmira, NY. On Tuesday, December 15, 2020 he passed unexpectedly at Arnot Hospital in Elmira. Ted was predeceased by his wife Lucy of 65 years who passed July 21, 2020. He is survived by his three children, Thaddeus (Cindy) Zaparzynski, Jr. of Apalachin, NY, Diana (Brent) Katzmann of Ithaca, NY and Joseph (Laurie) Zaparzynski of Mansfield, PA; seven grandchildren Natalie (Zach)Ritchey, Hilary (Richard) Charlton, Thaddeus III, Graeme (Lauren) Zaparzynski, Bryce Zaparzynski, Craigen (Becca) Katzmann and Garrison Katzmann; two great grandchildren Francis Rose Ritchey and LaRue Tyler Katzmann . Ted was predeceased by his sisters Helen (Theodore) Bennett, Cecelia (Fritz) Millspaugh and Adeline (Daniel) Manuel. Ted is survived by his brother; Eddie Zaparzynski along with many cherished nieces and nephews. Also extended family Joe (Tina) Coon- Ribble. Ted enlisted in the Army at the age of 17. He served as Private 1st Class during the Korean war from January 7, 1949 thru February 14, 1951 at which time he was Honorably Discharged. After Military service Ted went to work for the Erie Lackawanna Railroad and retired from Conrail. Following his retirement Ted took much pleasure in volunteering for the Horseheads Babe Ruth Baseball League and held the position of President for multiple years. Because of his devotion and commitment to the Horseheads Babe Ruth League, the town of Horseheads honored Ted with the observance of "Ted Zaparzynski" day. Ted loved attending sporting events and recitals where he took great pride in the accomplishments of two generations of his children and grandchildren watching as they performed on a ball field or on a stage. Ted enjoyed playing cards (99) with the family's where much laughter was always enjoyed. Teds amazing legacy will always be his grandchildren. Ted's favorite singer besides Hillary (his granddaughter) was Frank Sinatra. Please imagine him now in a chair, next to his wife Lucy, as a vinyl record spins on the turn table playing their favorite Frank Sinatra songs. Memorial Services for Ted will be held in the spring of 2021 and will be announced at a later date. In lieu of flowers, those wishing may remember Ted through donations to St Jude Children's ResearchHospital, 501 St. Jude Pl., Memphis, TN 38105
