Obituary of Robin Lynn Scheepsma

SCHEEPSMA, Robin Lynn Age 48 of Horseheads, NY passed away unexpectedly, Friday, May 31, 2013 at the Arnot Ogden Medical Center. Robin was an angel that never committed a sin in her life. She was unjustly taken from us way too soon. She was a fantastic Mother, Wife, Grandmother, and Aunt. She was the second youngest of a family of 9 brothers and sisters. Her entire life revolved around family, having fun, and helping people. While running a household, raising three boys, and working full time, she managed to further her education by becoming an LPN in 1996 and not stopping until she received a Master's Degree in Nursing Administration in 2010. She started working in Dialysis at Arnot Hospital in 2003. By the end of 2012 she was the Director of Dialysis and all its satellite units. She was known for fixing the problems of the past but will be especially remembered for her candy dish and her ever caring ears whenever anyone had a problem. Her compassion was second to none. She loved family and especially keeping family together. She was always known for having at least two parties a year just so her family could get together and strengthen the ties that keep them a family. No matter how busy she was she always managed to find time every day to talk to her sons who were in the military and stationed far away. They were thousands of miles away, but she always made them feel at home. She had a huge heart and was able to show that in many ways to her friends and family, wherever they were. Robin loved photography. She turned a hobby into being a wedding photographer. She loved it and put her whole heart into every picture she took. Her energy was unstoppable when she was helping people and having fun. She loved traveling and seeing places she had never been. She loved going on cruises and all inclusive resorts in Mexico and the Caribbean. She was a huge Yankees fan and happiness for her was watching a winning game at home or seeing them play at the stadium or any other town she happened to be in. She planned to move to Las Vegas and use her nursing expertise to help people anyway she could. She dreamed about people watching on the Las Vegas Strip and watching the sun set with a glass of wine in her hand. She never wanted to ride a motorcycle but she loved riding on the back of Bob's Harley, whether it was just to get ice cream at Big Top or take a road trip to Ocean City, NJ. Robin is survived by her husband Bob; Sons and Daughters-in-law: Spencer and Jola Scheepsma of Binghamton NY, Zack and Nikki Scheepsma of Fairbanks AK, and Alex Scheepsma of San Diego CA; Grandsons Gavin and Carter Scheepsma; Siblings Holly and Tim Roup of Elmira NY, Gail and Dan Drake of Ulster PA, Brenda and Howard Alvoid of Horseheads NY, Charles and Joyce Towner of Danbury CT, Wesley and Tanya Towner of Vancleave, MS, Larry and Kathy Towner of Norwalk CT, Robert and Carol Towner of Millerton PA, and Mike and Andy Towner of Wellsburg NY, the Scheepsma family, her in laws, whom she regarded as her own family along with many nieces, nephews, cousins, aunts, and uncles. Family and friends are invited to visit Walter J. Kent Funeral Home, 858 Lake St. at Washington Ave., Elmira on Wednesday, June 5th from 4 to 7 pm. Her funeral and committal services will follow at 7 pm. In lieu of flowers, those wishing, may remember Robin through donations to CareFirst, 11751 E. Corning Rd., Corning, NY 14830.
