Obituary of Dorothy E. Brown

Dorothy Elizabeth Brown Age 86 of Elmira, NY. She was born April 28, 1934 in Blossburg, PA, daughter of the late Agnes Lake and William Brown and passed away Wednesday, February 3, 2021 at Elcor Nursing Facility after an extended illness. She grew up in Canton, PA. She leaves to cherish her memory her daughters Beverlie (James) Jones of Little Rock, AR, Michelle Brown of Elmira, NY and Patricia Jones of Rochester, NY; grandchildren Bryan (Kara) Stark, Marcus (Haleigh) DeLige and Bre'Ona Brown all of Elmira, NY, Cortnii DeLige of Little Rock, AR and Talya Jones of Rochester, NY; great grandchildren Kyran & Skylar Stark, Zhari'El Brown and was anxiously awaiting the birth of her second great grandson Tatum DeLige. She also leaves to cherish her memory special friends Pat DeLige, Margie Jones, Pam Jones and the Rollins family along with a host of nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her adoptive mother Viola Rollins. Dorothy, affectionately known as Nanny, was employed at the Mark Twain Hotel and Pierce's Restaurant where she retired in 1991. She was a member of Monumental Baptist Church. She took pride in caring for her children, grandchildren and the neighborhood. She was known for her kind and caring ways, always throwing parties to make people feel special. She enjoyed cooking and baking and playing bingo with her grandchildren and close friends. Her greatest love was attending her grandchildren's sporting events and being their #1 cheerleader. Special thank you to the staff at Elcor, Hickory Knoll North, especially Pam, Tammy, Valerie, Lindsey, Carolyn and Ronda. Your love and generosity is appreciated more than you know. You are more than caregivers, you are family. A special thank you to Sandra and Edward Brown for your love and hospitality. Dorothy did not want a celebration of life. Her family will honor her memory privately.
