Obituary of Susan Ann Piper

Susan Ann Piper Age 64 of Pine City, NY. She was born November 8, 1956 in Elmira, NY, daughter of the late Peter and Florence (Senkow) Ball and passed away Sunday, June 6, 2021 after an extended illness. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her brother Ronald Ball; brother-in-law Richard Piper and sister-in-law Debra Kinner. Sue is survived by her loving husband of 45 years, Lawrence; children Christina Piper Kager of Corning and Daniel (Jocelyn) Piper stationed at RAF Mildenhall, United Kingdom; grandchildren Delilah and Rowan Kager, Jacob, Grace and Jedidiah Piper; sisters Barbara Repsher of Elmira, Patricia Comfort of Aniston, AL, Linda Kulago of Fassett, PA, Marilou (William) Pierson of Palm Coast, FL and Annmarie (Peter) Streff of Burke, VA; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law James and Carol Piper of Elmira, Donna and Mike Murphy of Ithaca, Frank Piper of Ithaca along with many nieces, nephews, and dear friends. While Sue's life had many colors, one of the brightest was her compassion. From the days of her childhood, she was known as the peace-maker. Whether an acquaintance or close family member, she spoke to everyone like they were family, with genuine interest in them. Without fail, she went out of her way for the countless others that she placed above herself. If feeling discouraged in her presence, she would seek you out and, with laughter and tears, lift your spirit with wise words and her beautifully warm smile of understanding. Even a brighter color of Sue's life was her love of family. There is no greater or more pure love than the love that Sue possessed and demonstrated for her husband, children, and grandchildren. That love, which existed to the exclusion of concern for her own well being, was looked upon by others with awe. She was an inspirational example of what a wife, mother, and grandmother should be, as well as "second" mother to many. The brightest color of Sue's life was her faith in God. As gentle and loving as she was, her faith was fierce. All who knew her describe her as a true, strong, and unwavering woman of faith. This was manifested and made most obvious by her gallant and graceful journey through her most difficult times, during which she was often the giver of encouragement rather than the receiver of it. She never complained and was always in a place of peace, expressing her confidence that all was part of God's plan. We know that Sue is now preparing a place for those she loves, just as she did on earth, where peace and joy and love abounds. In the meantime although she will be painfully missed by all, Sue's tapestry will forever comfort those who were blessed enough to have known and loved her. Family and friends are invited to visit Walter J. Kent Funeral Home, 858 Lake St. at Washington Ave., Elmira on Friday, June 11th from 4 to 7 pm. Her funeral service will be held on Saturday, June 12th at 9:30 am at Victory Highway Wesleyan Church, 150 Victory Highway, Painted Post, NY. Committal prayers and interment will follow in St. Peter & Paul's Cemetery, Elmira, NY. In lieu of flowers please send donations to Kevin's Guest House, 782 Ellicott St, Buffalo, NY 14203 (https://kevinguesthouse.com), which serves as a second home for countless families whose loved ones have been devastated by cancer.
