Obituary of Maureen A. Brown

BROWN, Maureen A. Age 74 of Horseheads, NY, formerly of Pine City, NY. She was born September 15, 1946 in Elmira, daughter of the late Maurice and Ruth (Deiseroth) Fitzgerald and passed away Sunday, September 5, 2021. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her husband Bruce (Sonny) Brown on November 1, 2020. Maureen is survived by her children Randy & Kierston Brown of Elmira and Wendy Cremeens of Liverpool, NY; grandchildren Haley and Magnus Brown; beloved cousin Ruth Ann Wiggins of Athens, AL; sister-in-law Patsy Williams along with several nieces and nephews; close friends and former customers from her banking career. Maureen worked in banking for over 40 years and loved working with the public and enjoyed meeting so many wonderful people. She was always pleased to help. Maureen found a love of hockey which transpired into volunteering with the local Elmira Jackal's Booster Club. After retirement, she enjoyed traveling with her husband. They traveled to Alaska, a safari in South Africa and to Disney World to watch their daughter Wendy compete in the Disney Princess Half Marathon. She enjoyed trips to Florida and the beach with her grandchildren, of which they continue to talk about, as she was always the doting Mimi. She was an honorary member of the Southport Volunteer Fire Department. Family and friends are invited to visit Walter J. Kent Funeral Home, 858 Lake St. at Washington Ave., Elmira on Sunday, September 12th from 1 to 4 pm. Her Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Monday, September 13th at 10 am in St. Patrick's Church, 604 Park Pl, Elmira. Committal prayers and interment will follow in Woodlawn National Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, those wishing may remember Maureen through donations to the Southport Volunteer Fire Department, 1001 Carl St., Elmira, NY 14904 or Roswell Park Cancer Center, 665 Elm St., Buffalo, NY 14203
